With 34 years of teaching, facilitation, coaching and leading teams, May has vast experience of working in Europe and the Middle East, particularly in GCC.
May has a PhD in Management and Organizational Leadership, and an MA in Applied Linguistics. She has extensive experience teaching, instructional design, testing, teacher training, assessment and research.
May’s corporate and educational experience includes working with the European Union, the Syrian Ministry of Higher Education, The Higher Institute of Business Administration (HIBA), AMIDEAST, as well as a multitude of training and consulting companies.
Whilst at AMIDEAST May established The Continuing Development Department, offering business and leadership programs to corporate clients. In establishing the department, May was also responsible for HR duties like recruitment, training, and performance management of a large team. She has experience in business planning and execution, budgeting, quality control and all activities related to leading a large department.
In addition to teaching, May has extensive experience in educational curriculum and instructional design, teacher training and national assessment. She has also lectured in MBA and an EMBA programs at a business school, as well as working as an English Language consultant for two private universities.
May served on the Fulbright selection committee (U.S. Embassy Scholarship) in Damascus and in Abu Dhabi. In the GCC, she has trained teachers and school administrators in The Leader in Me Program at Al Jahiz Boys’ School, Brighton College, and Ruwad Al Khaleej in Dammam. She is also a certified Propell iBT and TOEIC teacher/trainer.
Her training and facilitation experience spans a broad range of organizations in GCC including GASCO, ECSSR, Dubai Health Authority, National Drilling Company, FlyDubai, Al Futtaim, Estee Lauder, Yahsat, Executive Authority, KAMCO, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Petroleum Institute, SATORP, BAE Systems, Dubai Islamic Bank, MBC, Oilserv, SABIC, Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Ooredoo Qatar, Qatar University, ADDC, Takatuf Oman, UIC Kuwait, Oxy Oman, Ajman Authority, Hamdan International Airport, Omantel, Asiacell, IOM and many and others.
May is a bilingual facilitator, fluent in English and Arabic. She presents information in a wide variety of interactive and engaging ways, emphasizing the importance of transferring newly learnt information and skills back to the workplace. She is able to deal sensitively with diverse cultural groups and easily adapts to new professional and personal settings. She is a Master Facilitator for a variety of certification solutions.
